Zup’s offers a number of different trips. My favorite trip is the backpack wilderness canoe trip into the Quetico Provincial Park, also known as smallmouth heaven. On this trip I took my old man to do some bonding and we would have if we didn’t wear ourselves out catching fish everyday. We actually found a lake were we averaged 20 inch smallmouth (Middle Roland). This trip isn’t for everyone it’s a lot of work to carry your gear on back and your canoe on your shoulders over the portages (the land mass in between each lake). For me it’s worth the work to have an entire lake to ourselves. As we were only targeting smallmouth, we ended up catching some very nice walleye and pike as well. It’s hard to find a better meal than fresh walleye especially in the wilderness. Next year I hope to target some lake trout. Zup’s will outfit you with every thing you need for the Quetico except your fishing gear. Zup’s also has a very nice resort on Lac La Croix where you can fish from Lund boats and relax next to the fire place at the lodge staring at the trophy fish hanging on the wall.
