Captain Craig Bailey has spent the last 5 years traveling the world looking for that one location that offered outstanding sight fishing opportunities to start a charter service. In November 2011 Craig found Punta Gorda, Belize. P.G is considered by most expert travel anglers to be the Permit capital of the world and on our expedition we saw at least a half dozen Permit on each flat we went to.

For the fly angler Permit is the “holy grail” of saltwater fly fishing and P.G is the best place on earth to land a Permit on the fly. If you can pull yourself away from the Permit P.G offers year round fishing for Tarpon, Snook, Bonefish, Cudas, Jacks, & all the reef species. P.G is also in our opinion the best location to catch a slam or even a super slam. Craig and his team Wilfred & Alex operate two 23’ poling panga skiffs capable of running offshore and still get skinny to pole the flats. Craig is working on adding an offshore boat to fish outside the reef which is in his words is an “untouched” fishery.

Craig has put together some packages with the local hotels and has been able to produce the cheapest rates in Belize. For the non anglers in the group Knee Deep Expeditions offer a number of eco tours to choose from (Mayan ruins, jungle waterfalls, bird watching, etc). In our opinion this is the best saltwater fishing destination in the western hemisphere.
